Abstract

Purpose of the study: The aim is to analyze the extent to which history is packaged as an exciting walking tour to create a different travel experience from the others. Colonialism trail is a heritage trail packaged from a reticular patterned cultural route with traces of Dutch civilization as a part of urban tourism with a reputation as a historical, economic, and cultural city.


Methodology: This study uses a qualitative research approach through explanatory and descriptive narrative. It used interview techniques for collecting material that is done with questions and answers verbally, unilaterally, and face to face.


Principal Findings: First, the historical values and stories stored in the highest rank are the most memorable for the tour participants. Second, the Dutch building style or architectural heritage still looks magnificent. Third, the extraordinary value is the friendliness and clarity of the tour guide's information. These heritage sources can be packaged into sustainable tourism products and services like walking tours.


Applications of the study: The packaging of a walking tour has handled by the Jakarta Good Guide, which is divided into several routes. Every tourist feels impressed to see the antique structures and get clear information from the tourist guide.


The novelty of the study: The tourist experience will be a guideline for developing the heritage route. It will be a novelty to create a heritage route to be sustainable.
